THE IDEA
Based on the article
"40 under 40" that appeared in
Palm Springs Life Magazine in Oct
2006, we gathered a group of young and young spirited professionals
(not necessarily under 40!) in the Coachella Valley.

celebrated the sophistication and vitality of a generation once
broad-stroked as "slackers". Born to be wireless, this crop of
coffee-addicted overachievers tells a story of a bright future in
the Southern California desert."

THE NETWORK
Today we are a group of over 400 young or young spirited
professionals from all fields:
Art, architecture, culture,
theater, journalism, real estate, financial, consulting, photography,
fashion, retail, music, night life, politics, city administration,
public relations and many many more. We meet casually for
networking and making new friends, currently once a month in
different and very cool locations.
THE ORGANIZATION
We are not a club or organization and there is no
membership fee, no sign up fee, no fees at all, really other than
the cover at the door. Make sure to sign up for our e-mail list and if you don't
want to receive e-mails anymore you can unsubscribe - it's as
easy as that. We try to recognize the "movers+shakers" of the desert
where we can.
THE PURPOSE
We want to meet young professionals that are working
on their career in the desert, decision makers, managers, business
owners or the ones who aspire to be one of the above one day. We host
events where people can talk, meet each other, mingle, network, have fun
and at the same time discover the hottest and hippest locations of the
Coachella Valley. We create an atmosphere where it is easy to approach
each other. Even though many of the mixers end up being parties,
we want to encourage the social dialogue - you can do the dancing
after...
If you are new in town, please find one of our ambassadors to introduce
you to a few people.
THE EVENTS
Mixers take place usually once a month at the coolest
and hippest locations of the desert, whether they are the most popular hotels, the best art
galleries, restaurants or bars.
Over and above the mixers we try to
organize as many cultural, social networking and nightlife events as
possible. For example we organize visits of gallery and art openings or
visits of artist studios (like Robert Dunahay's studio in Palm Springs),
concerts like piano recitals or visits of local bands, or the official
after parties for the fashion shows during Fashionweek El Paseo.
The cover charge varies from event to
event. Please check the invitation.
THE SOCIAL LIFE OF THE DESERT
Being young and living in the desert can be a
challenge if you moved here from a city that actually has a night life
or social life. You think there must be more than two night clubs and
more than three bars - think again! Welcome to the desert! The social
life of the desert takes place behind closed doors. If you are new in
town, make sure to sign up for our mailing list and check our calendar
often. Aside from our own mixers we try to inform you about as many
events, parties, gallery openings etc. as possible. If you want us to
